Drake J. Dyck
Author · Photographer · Podcaster
Drake J. Dyck is a Canadian author, photographer, and podcaster based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. A military veteran with a lifelong fascination for science, technology, exploration, and the possibilities beyond our world, he brings those interests together in his fiction.
His creative path began behind a camera, first with film and darkroom photography and later with digital and drone work. His photography has taken him from rugged coastal landscapes to live music, motorsport, travel, and the night sky. He is also the creator and host of the Shutter Trails podcast, where he explores the craft and experiences of photographers from around the world.
The Caelum Directive, his first published work of fiction, marks the beginning of The Caelum series, a near-future science-fiction story exploring first contact, discovery, and humanity’s place in a much larger universe.
Drake lives and creates in Sooke, on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
The Caelum Directive
A near-future first-contact science fiction novella
A lone traveller, a distant world, and a mission built on observation, not interference.
But when an unexpected signal breaks the silence, the mission changes.
Drawn toward a mystery that should not exist, Caelum must decide how far to go in pursuit of answers… and what risks are worth taking when every discovery raises new questions.
The Caelum Directive is the opening story in The Caelum Series, a near-future science fiction saga of discovery, first contact, and the consequences of encounters that could change two worlds.
